Caregiver Qualifications

Caregivers must:

  • Be 16 years of age or older
  • Live with the patient in the same household.
  • ​Not be the patient's spouse or legal guardian (to avoid conflicts of interest).

Supportive Services Provided by Caregivers

Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs)

Caregivers assist with tasks that ensure smooth daily functioning, such as:

  • Household Management: Laundry, shopping, housekeeping, meal preparation, and cleanup.
  • Transportation: Accompanying the patient to medical appointments or other necessary outings.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Care and upkeep of wheelchairs and adaptive devices.
  • ​Medication Management: Ensuring timely and correct medication use.
